I try to focus on the simple, wonderful things first. For example: I made my first ever grilled vegetable sandwich last night. With Luther Burbank eggplants. And, while shopping for the vegetables at Vons, bumped into one of you and your parents and was able to exchange a Mucho Gusto. That was pretty cool.
But then I watch this morning's edition of CNN Student News and the first topic was about the Ebola outbreak in Africa. Yesterday, we started the day thinking about Russia's massive amount of nuclear weapons…its not always uplifting.
I think most of you will agree that our news article this week is equally thought provoking. The number of children from Central America fleeing devastating poverty and gang violence and crossing over to the United States is growing everyday.
Every two weeks we will go through cycles of reading about an issue, considering how different groups feel about the issue, and then thinking about what your opinion is.
