In
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, the setting of the story greatly influences and affects the lives of and decisions made by the characters in the story. Although this is a fictional novel, it is based on Alexie's childhood experiences and is one perspective of what it is like growing up as an American-Indian living on a reservation.
