Lord of the Flies by William Golding as you now know, is a book that was written and published around the time of World War II. A period filled with war and destruction, a time when millions of Jews were killed during the Holocaust and when America dropped the world's first nuclear bomb. Within this atmosphere of fear and what appeared to be a battle between good and evil, Golding created an equally haunting and provocative novel about a group of boys struggling to survive.
